Safeguarding Statement

Safeguarding is Everyone’s Business

At St. Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School we recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children. At St Cuthbert’s School the safeguarding of our pupils is our highest priority. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We make every effort to provide an environment in which children and adults feel safe, secure, valued and respected, and feel confident to talk if they are worried, believing they will be effectively listened to.

If your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that s/he is unsuitable to work with children) then you should report this to one of the Head of School in confidence.  If an allegation is made against the Head of School, the concerns need to be raised with the Xavier Safeguarding Compliance Director or CEO Xavier Catholic Education Trust as soon as possible.

If you are concerned about a child’s welfare, please record your concern, and any observations or conversation heard, and report to one of the DSLs as soon as possible the same day.

Do NOT conduct your own investigation.
