Charitable Fundraising

Summer Term 2024

Mary's Meals

The Spiritual Council researched a charity of their choice and they discovered Mary's Meals. They felt this was a good charity to raise money for as it is helping other children. They liked the idea that they will be able to feed less fortunate children than themselves for a year, for just £19.50. The council wrote a letter to the PTA tuck shop group who kindly baked some cakes for them to sell at sports day. Unfortunately, the British weather rained this off and meant holding a smaller event.

The council have rearranged this in Autumn 2024 and we raised an amazing £453 with our fun run.

Shelter

The Faith in Action group literally put their faith into action. They were so inspired by the story of Mother Teresa, who did what she could for the homeless people in Calcutta, that the group wanted to raise awareness of homelessness in our country. The group raised money for Shelter by organising and running a bake sale.

A&B Diocese Refugee Crisis Fund - £80

The children worked hard on creating artwork with a refugee theme. Each class studied a book or film that was age appropriate in explaining why it is important to support refugees. The staff created an art exhibition in school where the families could visit and view the learning.

Parents were invited to donate to the A&B Diocese Refugee Crisis Fund.

Spring Term 2024

Mission Together - £644.67

The Spiritual Council teamed together to raise money for the Diocese chosen charity; Mission Together. They were supported by Fran Thomas, the parish Mission Together rep to lead an assembly and to then plan a fundraiser in form of a Lenten Sale.

Autumn Term 2023

A&B Diocese Pilgrimage Fund - £156

To raise money for the charity suggested by Bishop Richard, the Lourdes Pilgrimage Fund, the children dressed in blue to channel their thoughts to Our Lady. Each class spent time in our prayer garden praying a decade of the Hail Mary.

£1,036.99

The Spiritual Council have chosen to do a sponsored walk to raise money for the communities in Pakistan who have been affected by flooding. During the months of October and November, the children have been challenged to walk 3798miles (the distance from Englefield Green to Pakistan) and this equates to approximately 18 miles per child. T

Family Fast Day was held on Thursday 5th October where we were raising money by dressing in colourful mufti clothes to raise awareness of the theme 'Brighten up for Harvest’ at the same time.

Baby Basics

The Spiritual Council researched a local charity and felt that they wanted to support Englefield Green Baby Basics. They organised the classes to create a hamper each. These were delivered to The Village Centre where they were received with such joy. The children even got a drink and a cake from the cafe as a thank you, followed by a tour of baby basics HQ.
