A nice surprise

Today our class were given a lovely gift from Ben and Sam. They donated their Octonauts for our class and it was greatly appreciated by all of our Reception children.

Dojo winner

We are so proud of Hywel who got the most green points this week for his great listening skills. Keep up all your hard work!

World Book Day

Today was a wonderful day at St Cuthbert's celebrating our love of books and reading. We would like to say a massive thank you to all the parents who helped make or buy a beautiful range of costumes for World Book Day. It was lovely to share a range of stories with your child.

Ash Wednesday

Today was our Reception class' first Ash Wednesday at St Cuthbert's Catholic Primary School. We all enjoyed a Mass led by Father Hugh and Deacon Aiden, who talked about the importance of almsgiving and how we should focus for Lent. The children then received their ashes and a blessing from Father Hugh.

Preparing for Lent

In preparation for Lent we have been very busy in the kitchen today cooking pancakes. It was a fantastic experience using new measuring skills and begin to explore measuring in grams and millilitres. We used our doubling skills to help get the correct amount for making enough mixture for all the children and teachers. It is safe to say the children enjoyed the scrumptious pancakes. It was a great opportunity to reflect on why we have Shrove Tuesday and how it helps us prepare our hearts for Lent as Ash Wednesday rapidly approaches.
