48 children from KS2 took part in the annual cross country event, held at Cardinal Newman School on Saturday November 28th.

15 schools participated in 6 races on the day.

This event is for year 4, 5 and 6 children, however I was keen to give our year 3 children the opportunity to compete, and was delighted that during the trials some of them managed to get into the top 10 to compete in this event, which is a great achievement from them.

It is impossible for me to mention all the children by name in this report, (I have mentioned the top 3 finishers in each of the 6 races) but you know how proud I am of all of you for giving your best.

We had some incredible individual performances most notably Liam from year 3 who won the year 4 boys race, congratulations Liam what an achievement. Also in that same race Caelan finished 3rd with Ryan from year 3 in 8th place. This meant that the boys took 2nd place, a great result. Lola was our highest placed girl finisher coming in 13th place, closely followed by Ruby in 17th, with Amelia in 18th.

With both the boys and girls scores combined it meant that the year 3-4 team came 2nd overall, so congratulations to all the runners across both those year groups.

In the year 5 races it was no surprise that both Freddie won the boys and Rachel won the girls race, superb running from the both of you, well done. It was Sam who was next home for the boys, finishing in 7th position, with Adam in 29th. For the girls it was Megan who took 25th place with Isabella in 26th.

In the year 6 boy’s race, our highest placed finisher was George in 13th, closely followed by Joe W in 20th, with Ben in 21st place. Our year 6 boys’ team came 2nd out of 15 schools so congratulations to them.

For the girls it was Aisling who came in first finishing in 20th place, with Isabelle in 22nd and Rebecca in 25th position.

Well done to every single child in their preparation for this event and for their efforts on the day.

A big thank you also to the parents (and there were many of you) who supported the children on the day. A special mention to Mr Green for supplying the fantastic photos.

Nearly a quarter of the children in the school participated in this event, that’s a fantastic achievement for a small school.

There are a further 2 cross country events which we will be attending in March next year (Reigate and Bracknell)

For now the children can have a breather, but rest assured we will be back training from January!

Match Report Y5 & 6 Girls Team Vs Chobham Free School

Just before half term Year 5 and 6 girls’ football team played a 5 a-side match against Chobham Free School. Rebecca was team captain and managed her team well against a good side. It was a fast game with Halina scoring an amazing goal, Kyla strong in defense and Aisling tackling well in midfield. There was a team change around at half time with new players coming on and Amelia taking over the role as captain. Rachel and Fiona played well defending and attacking alongside Ellie as striker. Heidi worked hard as goalie against some tough competition. Although the girls didn’t win, they played well and improved from the last match.
